Overview
NX NextHMI is an integrated hardware and software solution by Arnold NextG for managing secondary vehicle functions over CAN, replacing separate auxiliary control systems with one interface. I built the companion app entirely in Flutter.
Instead of hard-coding screens, the app loads XML configuration from the server and generates its widget tree at runtime, so new configurations and updates ship without hardware changes. Live CAN data reaches the app over Bluetooth Low Energy and is bridged into Flutter through platform channels to native Android and iOS code. The app is published on the App Store and Google Play.
My contributions
- Built the dynamic, configuration-driven UI: server-delivered XML parsed into widget definitions, rendered with GetX state management.
- Implemented real-time BLE/CAN data streaming and the platform-channel bridge between Flutter and native code.
- Implemented vehicle controls for doors, windows, cassette lift, warning system, ignition, horn and air conditioning, including motion-based control from the accelerometer and gyroscope.
- Added deep linking for direct navigation into specific device and control screens.
- Owned App Store and Google Play releases, including code signing, independently.
