Overview
FoodRunner is an on-demand food delivery platform made up of three native Android apps for customers, riders and restaurants. It covers ordering, real-time GPS order tracking, live chat, geofencing and revenue analytics.
I led the five-engineer mobile team that built and shipped the ecosystem. The apps are no longer listed on Google Play; the published Android builds are still available on APKPure.
My contributions
- Led a team of five engineers across the Customer, Rider and Restaurant apps, built in Java with MVVM.
- Implemented real-time GPS order tracking with the Google Maps SDK, geofencing for location-based restaurant suggestions, and Socket.IO live order chat.
- Added Zendesk real-time support chat and Facebook SDK integration.
- Integrated JazzCash, Easypaisa and Bank Alfalah payments, an in-app wallet and an automated rider salary engine.
- Rolled out the Firebase suite: FCM, Authentication, Crashlytics, Analytics, In-App Messaging and Remote Config feature flags.
- Ran releases with phased rollouts and hotfix management.
